What personal data is collected and why it is collected.

Comments are currently disabled

When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

The first name and email address are entered and stored solely for the purpose of preventing spam.  I do absolutely nothing with this information and this information can be removed upon request.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, smartphone or other devices when you visit our website. A cookie file is stored on your device and allows the site, to recognize you and make your visit easier and it allows the site to perform better when you revisit.

How does Monstabot use cookies?

Monstabot uses Google Analytics to track visitors and their viewing habits on the site. This includes where available, a pseudonymous identifier, operating system and browser type and, depending on the cookie, also includes the reporting of statistical data about the users’ browsing actions and patterns.

This data can be used to record the pages visited and the time spent on specific pages.

No personal identifiable data is stored and IP addresses are anonymized.

I do not have any advanced tracking installed. This means I have no information about my audience’s age, interest or gender etc.

I use this information to track the progress and historical success of my site. This allows me to measure things like bounce rates and the populaurity of certain pages.

If you would prefer not to have your viewing habits recorded by google analytics I advise either installing a plug-in that blocks analytics tracking in the browser for example:

“Block Yourself from Analytics” for Chrome and Firefox

If you are using Mozilla Firefox you can set up the browser to block tracking, as demonstrated in this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/content-blocking

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. YouTube videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to Monstabot. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
